Now let’s turn to today’s topic: common pheromone misconceptions.
There are a lot of myths floating around about pheromones, and it can be hard to know what’s real and what’s an inviting myth. We want you to be as informed as possible when buying a pheromone for yourself or a loved one, so we’re going to take a look at some of these pheromone misconceptions and set the record straight.
Let’s take a look at the three most common pheromone misconceptions we’ve come across!
MYTH #1: Pheromones are love potions that can attract anyone at any time!
Fact: The science of pheromones is a lot more complicated.
This is one of the most persistent pheromone misconceptions out there, and you’ve probably heard it more than once: that pheromones are strong “love potions” that can control people’s minds, obliterate their inhibitions, and make you 100% impossible to resist. You may have even seen some articles to that effect–about women “controlling men’s minds” with their pheromones, pheromones transforming people into “sex gods,” and so on.
But the idea that pheromones are magical potions that give you special power over other people is a myth. The truth is more complicated, and that’s actually a good thing.
Here is an incomplete list of things that pheromones can do:
- Improve your self-confidence and make you more open to talking to people
- Elevate your mood and the mood of someone you’d like to connect with
- Improve your “alpha” aura
- Improve your self-confidence and self-esteem
- Give you sexual confidence and improved sex appeal
So, if you’re a very shy person who has trouble talking to others, pheromones can’t completely fix your shyness issues…but they can help. If you’re having problems with confidence when you go out to meet new people, pheromones can’t take all those problems away…but they can help. If your sex life has been lagging, pheromones cannot transform you into a superhuman sex goddess…but they can help.
The bottom line is that pheromones cannot do all the work for you, but they can be an incredibly useful tool that helps you become the best version of yourself. They can make you feel more youthful, more confident, more energetic, and generally better about life, but you need to take it the rest of the way. Make sure you’re also keeping clean and practicing your social skills, and that you understand basic body language. And be respectful: if someone isn’t showing interest or does not have anything in common with you, it’s best to accept that and move on. Sometimes relationships don’t work out, and that’s okay. It’s all a part of being human.
The fact that pheromones aren’t love potions is, in our opinion, a good thing. When you wear pheromones, you haven’t become someone else, and you’re not misleading people into thinking you’re someone or something you’re not. You’re just putting your best self forward, and that’s who people are connecting with, and who they will continue connecting with. Isn’t that the better way to go about life?
So, in putting this myth to rest, we’re not trying to discourage you from using pheromones or tell you that pheromones aren’t worth the time or money. Pheromones can improve many parts of your life in many ways, from improving your relationships with others to giving you confidence you’ve been lacking. Just don’t expect magical and 100% consistent results. People are complicated, and so are pheromones. That’s what makes life interesting.
And remember, Love Scent offers a money-back guarantee on all our products. If the pheromones you bought weren’t what you expected or didn’t do what you wanted them to do, either return them for a refund or exchange them for something else.
MYTH #2: Men’s pheromones and women’s pheromones are completely different.
Fact: “Men’s pheromones” and “women’s pheromones” have a lot of overlap.
Of all the pheromone misconceptions out there, this one causes the most confusion. That confusion is understandable: if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that the science of pheromones and gender is more complicated than a lot of people expect. It’s generally true that men and women naturally produce different levels of some pheromones (particularly pheromones that are byproducts of hormones like testosterone), but that doesn’t mean that you have to let your gender dictate what kind of pheromones you use.
This myth usually comes up when a customer is discussing the best pheromone for them. Men who are looking for a pheromone that will help them attract women don’t want something that will attract men, and vice versa. Gay customers want to attract their own gender, not people from another gender. And so on. It can be confusing to learn that “men’s products” and “women’s products” sometimes contain the same formula, with the only difference being cover scent. Doesn’t that cause problems?
Well, it doesn’t cause as many problems as you’d think. As we’ve discussed before, the effects of a particular pheromone are far more important than whether the pheromone is a “men’s pheromone” or “women’s pheromone.”
An example: AndrosteNONE, gives you a confident and dominant aura, and anyone can be affected by it. This doesn’t mean that a man will attract straight men by wearing AndrosteNONE, or that a woman will attract straight women by wearing it, because straight people aren’t attracted to those of the same gender. Someone being affected by a pheromone doesn’t necessarily mean they will automatically be attracted to the person wearing it. As we said above, pheromones are not mind-control potions, and a lot of factors (like sexual orientation) are at play.
So, basically, if you’ve been thinking that certain pheromones only effect certain genders, you’ve been misled. It’s true that some pheromones have particularly strong effects on certain genders (the effects of copulins on men, for example, are very interesting), and some pheromones even have different effects on people of different sexual orientations, but there is no pheromone that is only for attracting a certain gender.
Then why do we split our pheromone catalog into “men’s pheromones” and “women’s pheromones?” Most of it is due to social expectations for men’s and women’s behavior. We expect men to be confident and dominant, so pheromones with those effects are often thought of as “men’s pheromones.” Likewise, we expect women to be socially dynamic and friendly, so pheromones with those effects are thought of as “women’s pheromones.” There are also practical reasons: many of our women’s pheromones have women’s fragrances added, and many of our men’s pheromones have men’s fragrances added.
Bottom line: you don’t need to worry too much about which pheromones are best for your gender, and you shouldn’t let pheromone misconceptions make you miss out on something that could work wonderfully for you. Think about what you want pheromones to do for you and what kind of effects you’d like the pheromone to have, and choose based on that!
MYTH #3: Stronger is always better when it comes to pheromones.
Fact: Balance is almost always better than strength.
This is one of the most common pheromone misconceptions we’ve come across. When we speak with customers, we often hear this question: “Which is your strongest, best pheromone?” That’s actually two questions smooshed into one: “strongest” and “best” are not always the same thing when it comes to pheromones, and the best pheromone for a particular person is not necessarily the strongest pheromone in our catalog.
But why? If you’re buying a pheromone, don’t you want the biggest bang for your buck? Of course you do…but nuanced, balanced pheromones usually offer the bigger “bang.”
Let’s take a look at some examples: Primal Instinct and Alpha-7. Primal Instinct is arguably our “strongest” pheromone because it contains only one, very strong sex pheromone: AndrosteNONE. Alpha-7, on the other hand, also contains AndrosteRONE, which acts as a counterbalance to the strong, aggressive effects of the AndrosteNONE. Doesn’t that mean that the AndrosteRONE is weakening or hindering the stronger pheromone? Actually, no…what it’s really doing is helping the AndrosteNONE work better by smoothing over its unpleasant, aggressive side and allowing its positive effects to shine through.
Another example: Essence of a Woman and Primal Women. Essence of a Woman is a copulin concentrate that contains nothing but copulins; Primal Women also contains the “icebreaker pheromone” AndrosteNOL. Essence of a Woman is a stronger and more concentrated product, but it can also be too intense for a lot of people. The added element of AndrosteNOL in Primal Women rolls back the intensity and keeps the copulins from being overwhelming–not by weakening them, but by adding an extra layer of complexity to the whole formula and thus making it more effective.
All of this is not to say that the strongest pheromone is never the right choice, just that it’s usually better to go with a more balanced formula. You’ll likely see better results that way!
And there you have it, Love Scent fans! The top three pheromone misconceptions out there. We hope you feel better informed about pheromones now, and have a better idea of what pheromones can do for you!
